STUDENT LIFE

A community that cares

Our Vision for Our Students

The purpose of the Student Development Department is to provide services contributing to the holistic development and care of students consistent with biblical higher education. Our desire is for every student to leave Pacific Life having experienced holistic life development: intellectual, interpersonal, emotional, and spiritual development. It is our intention that every PLBC alumni would be recognizable by their display of the following qualities:

Pacific Life Bible College

Spiritually Grounded & Growing
Relationally Equipped & Compassionate
Vocationally Focused & Professionally
Prepared Personally Aware & Flourishing
Culturally Aware & Respectful of Differences

Community Life

Students often rate our community as being the highlight of their PLBC experience.

STUDENT BODY

Our resident and commuter community provides a unique environment for learning that is relational, transformational, and holistic. We seek to provide intentional opportunities for students to walk alongside each other as they seek to become more rooted in their relationship with Christ and grow in self-awareness, vulnerability, accountability, and prayer. The culture at PLBC is known for its unity, belonging, and family-like connection. It is our honour and privilege to be a place where each student can find a godly community they can call home.

“Through friendships forged and lessons learned, I have come to where I am in my journey of making a difference in the world for the glory of Jesus.”

– Catherine Corres

FALL RETREAT

Our Fall Retreat is an important time for plugging into the PLBC community and starting the year well. Our beautiful retreat destinations create space for connection, biblical teaching, and spiritual transformation. This time away together is a significant opportunity for students to form lifelong friendships. West Coast sea and sky, worship, good food, good friends and so much more make for the best time to start the fall semester.

SPIRITUAL FORMATION CONFERENCE

Our Spiritual Formation Conference happens in the Spring semester. It is a time set apart to refocus and consider God and His call on our lives. We experience extended times of worship, ministry, and teaching from God’s Word by influential leaders. Come ready to be challenged and encouraged as we gather to worship and learn together.

CHAPEL

Chapels are a highlight of PLBC life as they are our main time of corporate worship. Weekly, both students and faculty open their hearts to God in worship and come together to experience the Church as a body of believers. Chapels also provide opportunities for practical ministry experience from students in the music team and to hear local speakers from a variety of Christian ministries and perspectives.

Ministry Life

Opportunities to grow your leadership and to find help when you need it.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP

The Student Leadership Team serves PLBC’s community, develops student leaders, and cultivates a Christ-like and people-honouring atmosphere at the college. Student leadership consists of teams such as Resident Assistants, Social Life Committee, Academic Discipleship Team, and House Leaders. Some of the closest friends you will make will be made through serving and sharing ministry time together. Being in a leadership position at PLBC gives you the opportunity to care for your community in a more active capacity and develop your own leadership skills.

Become a Student Leader

SLT Applications are posted every year in the Spring semester for returning students.

MINISTRY EXPERIENCE

As a student, you can pursue practicum opportunities on and off campus, while receiving credits towards your program. We have student leadership teams on campus that give you an opportunity to serve our community in a variety of programs and events. We also have practicum ministry assignments that are designed to give you hands-on experience in a variety of ministries in and through the local church.

MISSION TRIPS

Our college offers two opportunities to go on mission at the end of the Spring semester. The first is a short-term international mission trip. It is part of the Life Launch program but is open to every student who wants to be part of a short-term, intercultural ministry experience. Some of our previous trips have been to Costa Rica, Barbados, Thailand, and more! Our second mission’s team focuses on visiting churches throughout Canada and the Pacific Northwest with our Paclife Worship team in order to actively serve and love the local church. Both trips are amazing ways to end the school year by serving in ministry with friends while learning so much about God, yourself and others!

INTRAMURALS AND FITNESS

Our students have the opportunity to pursue a physically balanced and healthy life by participating in our weekly, casual sporting events that take place in the gymnasium or start up a casual game of beach volleyball. These events encourage physical activity, community time, and are so much fun! Students can also access our Fitness Room at all hours of the day or open a membership at the local YMCA, which is only 5 minutes away.
