Retreat 2023 Recap

This past September, many PLBC students and staff ventured by bus and boat to beautiful Camp Daybreak on Anvil Island. Our Fall retreats are a special time to get away from the noise of everyday life and pursue God together. One of the highlights of our retreat this year was our times spent in the chapel.  It was a joy to join together and worship God passionately through song, and even some dancing! Our four speakers shared on the theme of prayer and led ministry moments where we put into practice what we discovered through the Word. A special moment for the community was participating in the water baptism of one of our students.

In addition to the spiritual focus, we also had a lot of fun…and tasty food. Students and staff competed in various challenges on three teams which helped us explore the the camp grounds as we were surrounded by stunning views and natural beauty. On our free time, we enjoyed swimming, the water slide, volleyball, hikes, conversations, paddle boarding, and kayaking. During our final chapel, which was held outside facing the ocean, we were joined in worship by a humpback whale who brought emphasis to lyrics and the devotional with strategically placed jumps, splashes, and fin waves. It’s moments like these, and many others that will be remembered for a long time from this year’s retreat.

A big thank-you to the incredible team that helped plan, facilitated activities, led worship, shared from the Word, cooked tasty food, and so much more! We all really appreciate the ways that you served.
