Music Ministry

PURPOSE

This program is designed to help students grow in leadership skills, musicianship, creativity, humility, biblical wisdom, and depth in your relationship with God in order to be an effective leader and musician in the body of Christ. The learning is practical, hands-on, and thorough. The instructors are professional pastors and musicians, who combine a passion for God as well as life experience to mentor students in integrating musical excellence with spiritual effectiveness. Whether you are looking to become a vocational church musician or simply to develop into a more skilled lay leader, we are committed to training, equipping, and encouraging tomorrow’s church music leaders.

OBJECTIVES

In addition to meeting the learning objectives required for all programs, the Biblical Studies Major will enable graduates to:

1. 1. 1. Cultivate the ability to articulate a studied and considered philosophy of worship informed by scripture, sound theology, history, and an understanding of the role of the arts, and of music in particular, in culture and spiritual development.
      2. Be able to make music in public contexts with confidence, poise, and skill.
      3. Possess a fluency in music theory and a capacity to read music.
      4. Evidence a commitment to passion and creativity.
      5. Interact with a variety of people who are using the arts to impact the world for Jesus.
      6. Acquire relevant technical knowledge and practical skill.
      7. Communicate God’s heart to the world, both inside and outside church walls, through music.
