Mattiuss (2006) in Thailand
Michel-lyn Mattiussi (2006) is serving as a Foursquare Associate Missionary in Thailand for just over three years! Michel-lyn first fell in love with Thailand when PLBC's 2001 LifeLaunch Team stopped in for a few days on their way to another location. After returning to PLBC, she continued her studies, made one more trip to Thailand, and then prepared for a long-term stay.
The first two years were spent learning the language, teaching English, helping with ministry at the the Foursquare WorldBase in Thailand, and building relationships! Through teaching and tutoring Michel-lyn is able to build relationships and share the Good News of Jesus. It has also provided financial income to support the Church. At the end of November 2009, Michel-lyn took the grade six test (which is the government standard for fluency in Thai) and passed.
Since then Michel-lyn has completed her language study and joined Foursquare's University outreach, called English Clinic. English Clinic is a place where anyone is welcome to come and practice their English for free. Last year approximately 15 people became Christians through this ministry. Looking back at the last three years, Michel-lyn describes her time as "wonderful". Her supervisor descibes her as "a great English teacher, has a very fruitful ministry, and a great joy!"
Michel-lyn will be in Canada this fall for two months and then return for a second term on the field. Please continue to pray for Michel-lyn. If you are interested in supporting her financially please contact Barry McGaffin (Canadian Foursquare Missions Coordinator) at This email address is being protected from spambots. 2010 Graduate, Galen Caldwell, from PLBC's Youth Ministry Institute, is heading to Idaho to start as a youth pastor of a Fousquare Church. Galen came to PLBC with his wife, Rylee, from Oregon and completed an Associate of Arts in Youth Ministry. During his time at PLBC Galen interned in a local church youth ministry where he developed his calling by practicing what he learned in the classroom. We wish nothing but the best for the Caldwell's as they begin the next chapter of God's calling on their lives.
Matt and Grace met in Bible College at Pacific Life Bible College in Surrey, BC. Just weeks after graduation they were married in Seattle, Washington and soon made the journey to Southern California to be youth pastors. As youth pastors, Matt and Grace were able to put into practice the many skills that they had learned at school. Grace discovered that her passions and purpose were found in her ability to lead and encourage others in worship. She is also a gifted counselor and loves to mentor others over a cup of tea. Matt is working on his Masters of Divinity at The King's College and Seminary and has found a real passion in being a mentor. He can usually be found sitting behind a good book with a cup of coffee. Matt and Grace are most passionate about recognizing the gifts in others and helping them to use them.
